The Alan Early Competition
Movies are made to a theme, the final production must last no longer than 5 minutes and be complete with start and end titles. The theme is chosen by the host club at the inter-club competition below, which gives the members a whole year to complete the project. It is judged by a selected group of the Society members.

The Theme for the 2009 competition is:        

The Inter-Club Competition 
Normally held each November or early December, this competition is held between the Haywards Heath MovieMakers, The Mid-Sussex Cine & Video Society and the Copthorne Camcorder Club.

Each club supplies a 30 minute programme of movies which must include one film which has been made to the theme. The programmes are judged by independent judges.

The competition is held at a location chosen by each club in turn, who as hosts, select the theme for the following year. (The theme chosen is, in the case of HHMM, used as the theme for the Alan Early competition)


The Sussex Film Competition
Normally held in the autumn, this is a competition for individual film and video makers who are members of the Institute of Amateur Cinematographers (IAC). Entrants may be members of clubs & societies or may be "lone workers". The judges are are normally selected from the film industry, the television industry or may be prominent amateur fim or video makers. Entry forms are available in the "Seriac News" a couple of months before the competition. The main categories in the competition are:

Inter - Club Sound

SERIAC  Competition
This is a competition for individual film and video makers who are members of the Institute of Amateur Cinematographers (IAC). The competition is organised by the South Eastern Region of the IAC. Entrants may be members of clubs & societies or may be "lone workers". The judges are are selected by the IAC.
